I've been a full-time caregiver for my dad for about 6.5 years. Tapping has been one of my most important ways to stay calm and centered, patient and focused.
I looked around for caregiver groups and blogs and I find it interesting how everyone has a completely unique caregiving experience. Even within a specific group/topic, everyone has a different role.
My particular role is living with my dad, diapers, food, moving him from chair to bed. No extra help (but at least I don't have to coordinate any of that, which seems to be a suffering for many people).
But after all these years, I've got a better routine, I'm able to take some time to just knit (I have a pile of shawls that I calculated is a million stitches :) ).
Sometimes sleep is good, sometimes not.
I also have God, and my church. I was newly sober when I started to take care of my dad, and I also stayed sober during this time.
I use Tapping to stay calm, and to acknowledge how each of the issues make me feel.
I also hire professional Tapping practitioners to get a full session. I haven't been able to find a local massage therapist, so tapping has been a life-saver. It has also made me a better EFT Practitioner. I hope I can help other caregivers through this blog, and with Tapping.
Thanks for listening!
