Caregiver update

Well, being a caregiver certainly did not give me time to write a blog. It is now 6-9 months later and my caregiving duties have ended.
My dad passed peacefully at home on March 2, 2025.
However, I continue to attend my 'family caregiver support group' meeting on zoom. I took care of my dad 24/7 for 7 years. Now that he is gone, I gotta find me.
I feel that I can help other caregivers somehow. It seems that, unless someone has actually done the job, people don't 'get it.' I know that I didn't. Now I know.
The other thing caregivers need is resources. You have a baby and there's tons of books, plus all that REALLY help free advice from every person who finds out you're having a baby.

Caregivers don't have that. Or at least I don't know about it. It took years before someone actually helped me with information. I figured out most of it. In my zoom group, some people didn't even know about adult diapers!
I'd still like to help caregivers with EFT. EFT is great...you don't NEED to know what the person is going through, but it sure does create a stronger rapport with the client!
I thought about compiling a book of caregiver 'stories' where they can share a bit of their experience, but also one or two tips that they feel a caregiver absolutely needs to know. For example, I would write that you NEED to find help of some kind. You're not going to be able to do this by yourself. Also, you NEED to do proper self care. And I'm not talking about a bubble bath. Take a bubble bath, but that is not going to truly recharge your battery. I didn't do these things and I ended up in the hospital when my dad was at the end. There has to be a way to prevent this.
If you're a caregiver and want an EFT session, you can click 'book now' on my homepage to schedule a zoom session.
